Portable Audio Buyback Specialists
Portable Audio Buyback FAQ
Selling requires a photo ID for identity verification (Secondhand Goods Business Act). Appraisal is free, and you can choose nationwide from in-store, on-site, mail-in, or LINE. The questions below are organized by category.
A. Buyback service basics (what we buy / service area)
What categories of items do you buy?
As portable audio specialists, POTAODE Audio Buyback purchases earphones, headphones, DAPs, portable amps/DACs, headphone amps, and recables/accessories nationwide across Japan. We handle a wide range of makers, including SONY, SHURE, Astell&Kern, final, and Apple.
What is your service area?
We serve all of Japan. In addition to our directly operated stores nationwide, our on-site buyback and mail-in buyback cover the entire country daily from 9:00 to 20:30 (JST). You can sell to us even if there is no store near you.
Can you buy items other than portable audio?
Because we specialize in portable audio, we generally focus on earphones, headphones, DAPs, and similar gear. Our specialization is exactly why we can accurately assess market value nationwide.
Can you handle business sellers or large quantities of equipment?
Yes. With our on-site buyback for large-volume cases, we can review bulk sales from businesses and large quantities of equipment all at once. No matter how many items you have, there is no need to transport them.
B. Fees, prices, and market rates
Are there any appraisal fees or service charges?
Appraisals are free. There is no charge for the appraisal, and we do not charge a travel fee for on-site buyback (shipping terms for mail-in buyback are explained when you apply).
How is the buyback price determined?
It is based on market rate x condition x accessories x model year. Listed amounts are estimates capped at 70% of the used-market rate; the actual amount is determined by appraisal.
What are typical buyback prices?
It varies by model. We list estimates for popular models in an "up to ¥XX" format (upper limit only) on our buyback prices and category pages.
What if I'm not satisfied with the result?
There's no charge if you decline. A transaction only proceeds once you are satisfied with the quoted amount, and there is no charge if you decline.
C. Buyback methods, reservations, and process
What buyback methods are available?
There are four: in-store, on-site, mail-in, and LINE Appraisal. You can choose from in-person in-store/on-site visits, send-only mail-in, or LINE Appraisal where you get an estimate from photos.
Do I need a reservation?
On-site buyback is by advance reservation, and booking ahead makes in-store buyback go smoothly. We accept requests nationwide daily from 9:00 to 20:30 (JST).
How long does an appraisal take?
For just a few items, we can present a valuation the same day. Because specialist staff handle it, the appraisal goes smoothly.
What are the payment methods and timing?
On-site and in-store buyback are paid in cash on the spot; mail-in buyback is paid by bank transfer. Payment or transfer is made after you have agreed to the offer.
D. Required documents and identity verification (Secondhand Goods Business Act)
What do I need to sell to you?
You need a photo ID for identity verification. Please have a government-issued ID ready, such as a driver's license, My Number Card, passport, or residence card (verification under the Secondhand Goods Business Act).
Why is identity verification required?
The Secondhand Goods Business Act (Article 15) requires secondhand dealers to verify identity and keep records of transactions. As a licensed secondhand dealer, we verify and record this properly.
Can minors sell to you?
Buying from anyone under 18 generally requires consent from a parent or guardian. If we cannot confirm this, we may decline the transaction.
How is my personal information handled?
We manage it appropriately in accordance with our Privacy Policy and retain transaction records required under the Secondhand Goods Business Act for the period prescribed by law.
E. Condition, accessories, and special cases
Can I sell broken or non-working earphones?
Depending on condition, we may be able to buy them. We review faulty or flawed used items (junk items) nationwide as well.
Can you buy items without the box or accessories?
Yes, we can buy the unit on its own. Having the accessories and original box increases the valuation, but we will review it even without them.
For true wireless earphones, can I sell just one side or only the case?
Depending on the model, we may be able to buy them. Even with only one side or only the case, we assess the value carefully.
Do older or vintage earphones still have value?
Classic and popular models are eligible for valuation even if they are older. As a specialist shop, we properly recognize rare value too.
