Privacy Policy

This policy sets out how personal information and other data are handled in the service "POTAODE Audio Buyback" provided by Recycle Meister Co., Ltd.

This Privacy Policy (the "Policy") sets out how the personal information and other data of users of the service "POTAODE Audio Buyback" (the "Service") provided by Recycle Meister Co., Ltd. ("we" or "us") are handled. The meanings of the terms used in this Policy conform to the Act on the Protection of Personal Information (the "Personal Information Protection Act").

Article 1 Definitions

"Personal information" means "personal information" as defined in the Personal Information Protection Act: information about a living individual that can identify a specific individual through the name, date of birth, address, phone number, contact details, or other descriptions contained in the information, as well as data relating to facial features, fingerprints, or voiceprints, and information that can identify a specific individual on its own, such as the insurer number on a health insurance card (personal identification information).

Article 2 How we collect personal information

We may obtain the following personal information about users.

  • Information for user verification: name, address, postal code, gender, date of birth, phone number, email address
  • Transaction information: information about the contents of a transaction
  • Information obtained when you use the Service: online identifiers such as cookie IDs, your device information, location information, browsing history, and other usage of the Service (including access logs, IP address, browser information, browser language settings, etc.)
  • Other information: information related to inquiries or contact from users to us, etc.

Article 3 Purposes of use

We obtain and use users' personal information within the scope of the following purposes of use (the "Purposes of Use").

  • To provide the Service
  • To register users for the Service, authenticate users when they use the Service, and manage users
  • To bill for the Service
  • To prevent and respond to fraud and other misconduct
  • To maintain and manage the Service
  • To research and analyze marketing data, and to consider and carry out marketing measures
  • To provide, solicit, advertise, or otherwise market the services of us or third parties on our own or third-party media, tailored to users' interests based on analysis of their attributes and behavioral history
  • To plan campaigns, conduct surveys, and send email newsletters
  • To improve the Service and to plan, research, and develop new services
  • To respond to inquiries and to contact customers

Article 4 Provision to third parties

Paragraph 1. Except in the following cases, we do not provide the personal information we handle to third parties without obtaining the user's prior consent.

  • When based on laws and regulations
  • When it is necessary to protect the life, body, or property of a person and it is difficult to obtain the user's consent
  • When it is particularly necessary to improve public health or promote the sound development of children and it is difficult to obtain the user's consent
  • When it is necessary to cooperate with a national agency, a local government, or a party entrusted by them in carrying out affairs prescribed by law, and obtaining the user's consent is likely to impede the performance of those affairs
  • Other cases permitted by law

Paragraph 2. Notwithstanding the preceding paragraph, in the following cases the recipient of the information is not deemed a third party.

  • When we entrust all or part of the handling of personal information within the scope necessary to achieve the Purposes of Use
  • When personal information is provided in connection with a business succession due to a merger or other cause
  • When personal information is used jointly with specific parties, and the user has been notified in advance, or the information has been placed in a state where the user can readily know, of that fact, the items of personal information used jointly, the scope of the parties using it jointly, the purposes of use by those parties, and the name of the party responsible for managing the personal information

Article 5 Security control measures

We take necessary and appropriate measures to prevent the leakage, loss, or damage of the personal information we handle and otherwise to manage personal information securely. For information about the security control measures we take, please contact the inquiry desk set out in Article 13.

Article 6 Disclosure of personal information

Paragraph 1. When a user requests, through the procedures we prescribe, notification of the purposes of use or disclosure of personal information, we will disclose it to the user without delay. However, if disclosure would fall under any of the following, we may not disclose all or part of it, and if we decide not to disclose, we will notify the user of that fact without delay.

  • When there is a risk of harm to life, body, or other important rights
  • When there is a risk of significantly impeding the proper conduct of our operations
  • Other cases that would violate laws and regulations

Paragraph 2. For notification of the purposes of use or disclosure of personal information under the preceding paragraph, you may be required to pay a prescribed fee per request. The fee will not be refunded even if the purposes of use are not notified or part or all of the personal information is not disclosed.

Article 7 Correction and deletion of personal information

Paragraph 1. If the user's own personal information held by us is inaccurate, the user may request that we correct, add to, or delete the personal information (collectively, "correction, etc.") through the procedures we prescribe.

Paragraph 2. If we receive a request under the preceding paragraph from a user and determine that we need to comply with it, we will carry out the correction, etc. of the personal information without delay.

Paragraph 3. When we carry out a correction, etc. under the preceding paragraph, or decide not to carry one out, we will notify the user of this without delay.

Article 8 Suspension of use, etc. of personal information

Paragraph 1. If a user requests, through the procedures we prescribe, the suspension of use or the erasure of personal information (collectively, "suspension of use, etc.") on the grounds that the personal information is being handled beyond the scope of the purposes of use, or that it was obtained by improper means, we will carry out the necessary investigation without delay.

Paragraph 2. If, based on the results of the investigation under the preceding paragraph, we determine that we need to comply with the request, we will carry out the suspension of use, etc. of the personal information without delay.

Paragraph 3. When we carry out a suspension of use, etc. under the preceding paragraph, or decide not to carry one out, we will notify the user of this without delay.

Paragraph 4. Notwithstanding the preceding two paragraphs, if a suspension of use, etc. would involve substantial cost or is otherwise difficult to carry out, and an alternative measure necessary to protect the user's rights and interests can be taken, we will take such alternative measure.

Article 9 Inquiries about request procedures

Article 10 Handling of cookies

Paragraph 1. A cookie is a mechanism by which a website provider (the "client") temporarily writes and stores data on the computer of a visitor (the "user") through the browser. The user's identification information, access history, and similar data are stored. When the user views the same client's website on a later occasion, the user is identified again as a repeat visitor, and cookies are used to manage IDs and login status. This system does not obtain the user's personal information. For how to configure and delete cookies, please check the "Help" menu of your browser.

Paragraph 2. We use cookies to deliver search-linked advertising displayed in connection with the keywords the user searches for. We also conduct access analysis in order to research and improve the development of our website.

Paragraph 3. We use the following third-party distributors to deliver advertising for our service. These distributors deliver advertising based on cookies and the like, drawing on the user's browsing history and similar data. If you wish to disable advertising delivery by any of the following distributors, please complete the opt-out procedure on each distributor's site.

  • Google LLC
  • LY Corporation
  • Meta Platforms, Inc.

Paragraph 4. We use Google Analytics provided by Google LLC. We may receive the results of Google LLC's collection and analysis of users' browsing history based on cookies set by us or by Google LLC, and may use them to understand users' usage and for our services.

Paragraph 5. In handling information obtained through cookies, we take security control measures under strict management to prevent unauthorized access and leakage, and we continuously review them and strive for correction and improvement.

Article 11 About the use of Google enhanced conversions

For purposes such as delivering advertising tailored to users' interests and improving the accuracy of ad-effectiveness measurement, we use the enhanced conversions of Google Ads and Google Analytics, and may provide hashed data such as users' email addresses, phone numbers, and addresses to Google LLC, the provider of those services. If you wish to avoid the use of these enhanced conversions, please complete the opt-out procedure on Google's site.

Article 12 Changes to the Privacy Policy

Paragraph 1. Except for matters otherwise provided by law or in this Policy, we may change this Policy at any time without prior notice to users.

Paragraph 2. The amended Privacy Policy takes effect at the time we post it by a method we prescribe. However, this does not apply where we separately set an effective date.

Paragraph 3. If a user uses the Service after we have changed this Policy, the user agrees, without objection, to be deemed to have approved the revised Privacy Policy.
